Specify around the manufacturing process
Machinery, dropped components, trolley traffic and cleaning create different demands within a factory. Identify concentrated wear and impact areas as well as general traffic routes. Tell us which oils, chemicals or cleaning agents may contact the floor, including their concentration, temperature and exposure time where known. Resistance must be checked for the selected product; no resin finish resists every chemical.
Repairs and preparation before installation
Damaged concrete, loose coatings and oil contamination need assessment before coating. Mechanical preparation creates the required surface profile, with repairs specified for local defects. Contamination that has penetrated the slab may need further investigation. Moisture and movement can also affect suitability; hiding a defect beneath a coating does not resolve its cause.
Work within a realistic shutdown window
Discuss fixed machinery, adjacent production, cleaning operations and routes that must remain open. Where appropriate, separate areas can be phased, provided each can be isolated and allowed to cure. A shutdown plan must include preparation, repair materials and full return-to-service requirements, not just the coating application time.
Maintain traction and cleanliness
A textured finish may suit some production areas, but texture and cleanability must be considered together. At handover, confirm suitable cleaning products and equipment. Remove spills promptly and investigate new cracks, impact damage or areas of lifting before they spread.
Planning your project
What affects the cost?
Area is only one part of the quotation. Failed coatings, contamination, repairs, preparation, the selected build-up and finish all affect the work. Access, moving equipment and splitting the installation into phases can also change the programme and cost. A survey helps define these items before a price is agreed.
When can the floor return to use?
Allow time for preparation and repairs as well as application and cure. Pedestrian access, forklift traffic and chemical exposure may have different return-to-use limits. Product instructions, substrate temperature and site conditions determine these limits; a dry-looking surface is not confirmation that it is ready for traffic.
Can installation be phased?
Sometimes. Each phase needs a clear working area, separation from traffic and enough time to cure. We review routes, stock movements, access and the edges between phases with you. Some sites are better suited to an agreed shutdown than a sequence of small areas.
Will a coating withstand our cleaning chemicals?
We need the actual cleaning products, dilutions, temperatures and contact periods to check compatibility with the proposed system. Share safety and technical data where available. Suitability is confirmed for the specific coating and operating conditions.
